My Home Elevator Is Beautiful Because It Helps My Son

My beautiful home elevator isn’t beautiful because of the cherry wood, the sophisticated framing, or the custom design. It’s because it lets Chris, my teenage son, go upstairs and downstairs without having to ask me or his father for help. Independence is so important to them at that age. And frankly, I don’t think my husband or I would be able to keep lifting him after his growth spurt.

My home elevator is beautiful because it fits the color scheme and style I laid out for our home five years ago, and it’s beautiful because it’s made with great materials. But the most beautiful thing about it is how much Chris enjoys it.
